Accepted work

Metered Rentals

Timed Rentals

Pay for accepted work at the rig's BTC/TH/day price. Same listing as a timed rental. The note has the difference, and when the Lightning invoice is due.

Timed rental, metered rental, and how you pay

Timed rental

A timed rental sells a block of hours at the rig's BTC/TH/day price. You pay that hire up front from your confirmed RouteHash balance, and the rig stays on that lease until the clock ends. While those hours are running, a metered rental waits. Start stays off, and accepted work during the lease stays on the lease.

Metered rental

A metered rental sells accepted work at the rig's BTC/TH/day price. A full day of accepted work at the listed TH costs the same as a 24 hour hire. The first invoice is the owner's minimum rental time at that price, plus the node runner percent. You can buy more hours, up to the owner's maximum. Pay that invoice from a Lightning wallet. Hashing starts after that invoice is paid. Invoices may be open on the same rig. The first payment starts the rig. An unpaid invoice expires in 5 minutes. That time is only the time to pay it. It is not the length of the rental. When the paid work is used, the rig pauses until the next invoice is paid. That next invoice stays open for one hour, the hire stays exclusive, and it extends the hire up to the owner's maximum. At that maximum the hire ends and the rig goes back to its usual destination.

Before you start

  • Sign in to a RouteHash account.
  • The rig is listed, SHA-256 or Blake2b, with an hours price above zero.
  • The rig is free of a timed lease and free of another running metered rental.
  • Pick one of your nodes, or enter a DATUM listen and Save node. Host, port, and worker are the listen RouteHash dials. Your ASIC stays on stratum.routehash.com:23335.
  • Have a Lightning wallet open before you click Start. SHA-256 invoices are BTC. Blake2b invoices are XBT.

How you pay

Have the Lightning wallet ready before you click Start. The invoice is the hours you choose, at least the owner's minimum rental time, plus the node runner percent. Hashing starts after that invoice is paid. The rig stays on its usual destination until then. When that paid work is used, hashing pauses until you pay the next invoice. A metered rental does not send a bill when the day ends. You pay each Lightning invoice before that work is hashed. A timed rental is a different hire: it charges your confirmed RouteHash balance before those hours start. The Lightning receipt lands on RouteHash's node. It does not debit the confirmed RouteHash balance. The rig owner's credit is the same payout withdrawal as a timed hire. Lightning does not send that credit.
